Currency
Australia's currency unit is the Australian Dollar (AUD$). Our currency has five notes and six coins in circulation as well as periodic commemorative notes and coins. Australian 1 & 2 cent coins are not in circulation, so totals are rounded up or down to the nearest 5 cents.
Notes
Note values are $5, $10, $20, $50 & $100 with each being a different colour, increasing in size with value. The notes are all made in polymer, a type of plastic, which allows sophisticated security features being the clear window with printing and embossing. The plastic notes were introduced in 1992, with Australia being the first country in the world to move all currency from paper to secure polymer notes.
