Culture
Melburnians are a pretty friendly and relaxed group of people with a broad sense of humour. Victoria's population of around 4.8 million people makes up about 27% of the total Australian population, second to NSW.
Victoria's population is the most culturally diverse in Australia - with over 100 different nationalities speaking over 130 languages. Almost one-quarter of Victorians were born overseas. One of Melbourne's greatest strengths lies in this multicultural uniqueness. This cultural mix and influence can be seen, felt and experienced in the architecture, cuisine and landscape in and around Melbourne.
Outdoor leisure is high on the list of priorities for Melburnians as we are blessed with a sunny climate and surrounded by the sea. Going to the beach, hosting BBQ's, wining and dining el fresco or sipping coffee at one of the numerous restaurants and cafes in and around Melbourne are favourite pastimes.
Melburnians are also passionate about sport. If we are not participating, then you can sure bet we are watching - football (Aussie rules) cricket, rugby, golf and tennis, are the top favourites.
